Japan's leading diversified materials manufacturer Nitto Denko Corporation announced today there was no significant effects on its sites from the magnitude 7.1 aftershock, which struck northeast Japan around 11:32pm on April 7. 
The Tohoku Plant, which specializes in the medical-related specialties, is the biggest among the company’s four plants in the quake-affected area. Although the aftershock knocked out power and water supply to the vicinity – Osaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, no human injuries occured there. Power and water supplies have been gradually recovered in the area. As soon as they are fully restored, production will be resumed after the necessary inspections on the plant’s facilities are conducted. 
The other three plants, Tohoku and Iwaki Plant of the company’s fully-owned subsidiary Nissho Corporation in northeast Japan, as well as the fluoroplastic -related products manufacturing base Kanto Plant in Saitama Prefecture, are all unaffected from the aftershock this time. 
Within the company’s extensive network across the country, there are several sales offices in northeast Japan. Although some of them went through blackouts, there was no significant damage caused. 
Regarding the effects of the month-old bigger quake, Nitto Denko’s situation remains the same as it was reported in the previous press release dated April 4, 2011. Nitto Denko will keep striving to overcome this unprecedented disaster in a group-wide concerted effort.
